King’s House Rules & Restrictions
Note: The following list is a summary for convenience and does not replace or take precedence over the full Terms & Conditions of Hire. In the event of any discrepancy, the Terms & Conditions shall prevail.
General Conduct & Values
Purpose of Hire: The Venue must only be used for the purpose described in the Hire Handbook.
Ethical Use: All activities must align with the Venue’s values and Ethical Use Policy (Schedule 3).
Prohibited Activities: Events that promote faiths other than Christianity or promote views contrary to the Church of England are prohibited.
Advertising: The Hirer must not use the Venue’s name, logo, or images in any promotional materials without prior written consent.
Safety & Safeguarding
Safeguarding Policy: For events with children (under 18) or vulnerable adults, the Hirer must provide a formal Safeguarding Policy at the time of booking.
DBS Checks: The Hirer is responsible for ensuring all staff and volunteers have valid DBS checks where applicable.
Capacity Limits: Room capacities must never be exceeded (e.g., Upper Room limit is 240).
Obstructions: All corridors, staircases, and exits must be kept entirely free from obstruction at all times.
Fire Doors: Fire doors must remain closed and never be wedged or tied open.
Alcohol & Catering
Service & Sale Age Restriction: No person under the age of 18 is permitted to sell or serve alcohol at any time.
Consumption Age Restriction: Alcohol must not be served to or consumed by anyone under the age of 18.
Licensing: Alcohol cannot be sold on-site without a Temporary Event Notice (TEN) from Islington Council, a copy of which must be provided to the Venue.
No Cooking: No cooking is allowed on the premises. External caterers require prior written consent.
Building Care & Equipment
No Fixings: No bolts, nails, tacks, screws, or adhesives (including tape) may be attached to walls or fabric. Paper may be fixed to window glass with blue tack/tape.
Electricals: All portable electrical equipment brought in must be PAT tested and display current certification labels.
Smoking/Vaping: The Venue is a strictly "no smoking" area.
Animals: Only assistance dogs are permitted without prior written consent.
Noise & Timing
Noise Nuisance: Events must be organized to minimize disturbance to neighbors.
Music Curfew: Subject to consent, amplified music must end by 10:30 PM.
Vacating the Venue: Bookings must end and the Venue must be cleared by the end of the Period of Hire. This must be no later than 11:00 PM.
Period of Hire: This period must include all set-up and pack-down time.
Cleanliness & Departure
Rubbish: All rubbish must be taken to the Cafe for staff removal; excessive rubbish may need to be taken off-site.
Furniture: All chairs must be returned, stacked, on the three black trolleys.
Cleaning: All culinary equipment used must be washed up.
